PNVN1201 : Foundations of Nursing

This course introduces the student to the role of a student, basic skills for success, nursing history and trends; nursing ethics; legal aspects of nursing; practical relationships in healthcare, including the role of the vocational and professional nurse; and the continuum of nursing education. The student is given a broad overview of the nurse-client relationship, principles of therapeutic communication, and the cultural diversity of clients. Client care is discussed throughout the life span as guided by the Nursing Process framework within the scope of Practical/ Vocational Nurse practice.
